Here are some more rough sketches I made of the alphabet. I’ve not finished the series yet but would really appreciate any feedback, good and bad. I’m in the process of getting a better selection of pens as I am currently a bit limited to this one black pen which is fast running out and can be a little thick at times.
I’ve been quite inspired this winter to get drawing. It’s something I’ve battled with throughout my student years and beyond. I’ve never quite found a natural voice with drawing, there are boxes of half finished sketch books under the bed that have hardly seen the light of day. This year I’ve decided to face it again and just do something about it. Here are a selection doodles that I had most fun sketching.
I got a set of really nice Tombow pens for Christmas and have been doodling a lot more over the past month. I recently made this alphabet.
I then fiddled about with it in Photoshop, but I think I prefer the raw sketches.

Phew! That one was complicated, it still needs some tweeking but i’ll do that in the morning, i’m going to bed now!
Here are a few more of my designs. I’m taking lots of inspiration from Mini Moderns, Inaluxe, Lotta Jansdotter and a whole host of other designers past and present. I’ve taken these samples from Spoonflower, am working on some high res versions at the moment.
It’s always been a dream of mine to be textile designer. I’ve flirted it with it very briefly when I screen-printed some designs onto t-shirts and jumpers a few years back. Now I’m old and wiser (well hopefully) I’m determined to give it another go. So, with the power of the internet and a little self discipline I’m teaching myself textile design. Here is my very first proper attempt. Hope you like them. This will be the first of many.
There has been many a drama surrounding The Ghosts of Bush House album by Howlround (better known as my mate Robin Warren). Since the vinyl pressing was released a few weeks ago it has sold out. Robin has now been banned from his local post office as a result. There were rumours of a copy going on Ebay for £50 and the latest update is that there have been 200 GREEN and WHITE editions pressed exclusively for Boomkat.
The latest and most exciting update is that it has been featured in the latest edition of The Wire magazine. What makes this even sweeter is that they’ve included one of my photos, and if you look really hard you can just make out my name in the bottom right hand corner. It may not be glowing in neon lights but it’s there and I feel very proud to have been a small part of this rather exciting project.
