Hello, my name is Hannah Brown and this is Kvist, it’s the Swedish word for twig and is a space for my print and pattern ideas to come to life. I wanted to use my own name for this project but unfortunately “Hannah Brown” is a bit too popular, so I chose a more obscure word that related to my designs.
After studying Graphic Design at Camberwell College I went on to do an MA in Printmaking, focusing on paper and bookmaking. After studying I spent a large chunk of time not knowing where I wanted to be and ended up aimlessly doodling, making posters and learning to sound engineer for a radio station.
In 2013 I became really interested in textile printing and pattern design and decided to use all my resources to teach myself how to make and print patterns! It’s been a long journey and i’m still learning a lot through trail, error and success!
My designs are inspired by my passion for Scandinavian pattern designs, Ikea textiles, vinyl sleeves, packaging and 1960’s fabrics.
Each idea usually starts as a paper cut out or sketch and ends up screenprinted on fabric in a studio in Elephant and Castle.
